Q: How do I purchase a gun from M&C Army Surplus?

A: Florida has comparatively lenient gun laws, but still requires a background check for gun purchases. There is no need for an adult to have a permit to purchase or possess a rifle, shotgun, or handgun. You must, however, be a Florida resident and have a valid driver’s license with your current physical address. If the address on your driver’s license is not your current physical address, another government issued document (automobile registration, voter id card, tax return, etc.) can be used as proof of residency in addition to your driver’s license. Those in possession of a concealed weapons permit in Florida are exempt from the mandatory waiting period but must complete a background check.

Three Day Waiting Period

The Florida Constitution and state statutes create a mandatory three-day waiting period between the purchase and delivery of any handgun. The waiting period does not apply, however, if the purchaser has a valid concealed weapons permit in the state. The three-day period does not include weekends or legal holidays.

Background Check

As the seller, we must have the buyer complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check form. There is a $5 fee for processing the background check.

Florida gun laws are subject to change.
